Introduction

Glagol to be je pomoćni glagol i jedan od nepravilnih glagola koji je neophodan u gramatici.  

Za izricanje radnji koje su se dogodile i završile u prošlosti koristimo oblik glagola u jednostavnom prošlom vremenu [past simple].

Form

Glagol to be jedan je od glagola s nepravilnom tvorbom u prošlom vremenu.

Use

Past simple glagola to be koristi se kao poveznica između subjekta i drugih rečeničnih dijelova. Omogućuje dodatne informacije o subjektu u prošlom vremenu.

Summary

Jednostavno prošlo vrijeme [past simple] koristimo za izricanje radnji koje su se dogodile i završile u prošlosti. Glagol to be ima nepravilnu tvorbu u prošlom vremenu.

  • Potvrdni oblik: (I) was, (you) were, (he/she/it) was, (we/you/they) were;
  • Negativni oblik: (I) was not, (you) were not, (he/she/it) was not, (we/you/they) were not;
  • Upitni oblik: was (I…?), were (you…?), was (he/she/it…?), were (we/you/they…?).

Naprimjer:
— Potvrdni oblik: “The sugar was enough for the cake.”
— Negativni oblik: “The sugar wasn’t enough for the cake.”
— Upitni oblik: “Was the sugar enough for the cake?
