Form

The exceptions of the present simple for the third person singular, in its affirmative form, are:

  • Verbs with -ch, -s, -sh, -x, -z: add -es
1st person 3rd person
watch watches
kiss kisses
crush crushes
tax taxes
buzz buzzes
  • Verbs ending with a consonant followed by -y: change -y to -i and add -es
1st person 3rd person
cry cries
  • Irregular verbs such as be, do, go and have: do not follow any rule

be is
have has
