Pasado Simple de To be

Verbs

El verbo to be es esencial en la gramática. Es un verbo auxiliar y es uno de los verbos irregulares.

Para expresar situaciones que ocurrieron en el pasado y que han terminado, usamos el tiempo pasado [past tense] del verbo.

El verbo to be es uno de los verbos con una forma irregular del tiempo pasado.

Afirmativo

I was not wasn’t
You were not weren’t
He was not wasn’t
She was not wasn’t

Afirmativo

  • I was a good boss.
  • He was here 2 minutes ago.
  • We were in Portugal in 2012.

Negativo

  • I wasn’t a good boss.
  • He wasn’t here 2 minutes ago.
  • We weren’t in Portugal in 2012.

Interrogativo

  • Was I a good boss?
  • Was he here 2 minutes ago?
  • Were you in Portugal in 2012?

Se usa el pasado simple de to be como una palabra vinculante ente el sujeto y un complemento o adjetivo. Da más información sobre el sujeto en el pasado.

Usamos el pasado simple [past simple] para expresar situaciones que ocurrieron en el pasado y ahora han terminado. El verbo to be tiene una forma irregular del pasado.

  • Afirmativo: (I) was, (you) were, (he/she/it) was, (we/you/they) were;
  • Negativo: (I) was not, (you) were not, (he/she/it) was not, (we/you/they) were not;
  • Interrogativo: was (I…?), were (you…?), was (he/she/it…?), were (we/you/they…?).

Por ejemplo:
— Afirmativo: «The sugar was enough for the cake
— Negativo: «The sugar wasn’t enough for the cake
— Interrogativo: «Was the sugar enough for the cake?»
