Les noms pluriels irréguliers

Introduction
Les noms [nouns] se réfèrent à une personne, une chose, un événement, une substance ou une qualité.
Le pluriel d’un nom est utilisé pour indiquer qu’il y a plus d’une personne, d’un animal, d’un lieu ou d’une chose. Certains noms ne suivent pas les règles : ils sont irréguliers et leur pluriel se forme différemment.
Form
Les noms pluriels irréguliers ne se forment pas par l’ajout de -s ou -es. Aucune règle n’explique la formation de leur pluriel. Il faut les apprendre par cœur. Les noms pluriels irréguliers les plus courants sont :

Example
- Child ⇒ We have three children.
- Foot ⇒ My feet are sore.
- Man ⇒ There are some men outside the house.
- Mouse ⇒ I found three mice in the barn.
- Person ⇒ They are such nice people.
- Tooth ⇒ He lost two teeth yesterday.
- Woman ⇒ They are very beautiful women.
Use
On utilise les noms pluriels irréguliers de la même façon que les noms pluriels réguliers. Seule leur forme change.
Summary
Il n’existe pas de règle pour la formation des noms pluriels irréguliers, il faut donc les apprendre par cœur.
Les plus courants sont : child ⇒ children, foot ⇒ feet, man ⇒ men, person ⇒ people, woman ⇒ women.
Par exemple :
— « An ox. » ⇒ « Three oxen. » / « Three oxes. »
— « There is only one goose in the street. » ⇒ « There are five geese in the street. »
