Introduction
Il presente progressivo [present continuos] è un tempo verbale usato per parlare di situazioni che accadono nel presente (prima, durante e dopo il momento in cui se ne sta parlando).
Quando espresso in forma negativa [negative form], il verbo nega che qualcosa sta succedendo in questo momento.
Form
Il presente progressivo, nella forma negativa, ha questa struttura:
Subject + to be + not + [verb + -ing] + …
- La forma breve negativa è la stessa del verbo to be: I’m not – you’re not/you aren’t – he’s not/he isn’t…

Usiamo il prsente progressivo, nella forma negativa, per negare:
- Azioni che accadono nel momento in cui se ne parla;
- Azioni temporanee (che termineranno nel futuro);
- Azioni pianificate per il futuro;
- Cambiamenti e tendenze;
- Consistenza degli eventi.
Summary
Il presente progressivo [present continuos], nella forma negativa [negative form], viene usato per negare situazioni che si verificano più o meno durante il momento in cui se ne sta parlando.
La struttura è:
Subject + to be + not + [verb + -ing] + …
Per esempio:
— “He isn’t working on an important project today.” = usiamo il presente progressivo perché stiamo parlando di un’azione che si sta svolgendo mentre se ne parla, al momento.
♦ “He doesn’t work on important projects.” = usiamo il presente indicativo [present simple] perché stiamo parlando di un’azione che si verifica ripetutamente o sempre nel presente.
