To be Būtasis Laikas

Verbs

Veiksmažodis to be yra svarbus gramatikoje. Tai pagalbinis veiksmažodis ir taip pat, vienas iš nereguliarių veiksmažodžių.

Norėdami išreikšti situacijas, kurios įvyko praeityje ir dabar jau pasibaigė, mes naudojame būtojo laiko [past tense] veiksmažodžio formą.

Veiksmažodis to be yra vienas iš veiksmažodžių, turintis netaisyklingą būtojo laiko formą.

Teigiama forma

Neigiama forma

Subject To Be + not Short form
I was not wasn’t
You were not weren’t
He was not wasn’t
She was not wasn’t
It was not wasn’t

Teigiama forma

  • I was a good boss.
  • He was here 2 minutes ago.
  • We were in Portugal in 2012.

Neigiama forma

  • I wasn’t a good boss.
  • He wasn’t here 2 minutes ago.
  • We weren’t in Portugal in 2012.

Klausiamoji forma

  • Was I a good boss?
  • Was he here 2 minutes ago?
  • Were you in Portugal in 2012?

Būtojo laiko to be forma yra vartojama kaip sąsaja tarp subjekto ir papildinio arba būdvardžio. Ji suteikia daugiau informacijos apie patį subjektą praeityje.

Vartojame būtąjį laiką [past simple] išreikšti situacijas, kurios įvyko praeityje ir dabar jau baigėsi. Veiksmažodis to be turi netaisyklingą būtojo laiko formą.

  • Teigiama: (I) was, (you) were, (he/she/it) was, (we/you/they) were;
  • Neigiama: (I) was not, (you) were not, (he/she/it) was not, (we/you/they) were not;
  • Klausiamoji: was (I…?), were (you…?), was (he/she/it…?), were (we/you/they…?).

Pavyzdžiui:
— Teigiama: „The sugar was enough for the cake.“
— Neigiama: „The sugar wasn’t enough for the cake.“
— Klausiamoji: „Was the sugar enough for the cake?
