To be Past simple

Verbs

To Be fiili gramerin temel taşlarından bir tanesidir. Yardımcı eylem olarak görev yapar ve düzensiz fiillerden bir tanesidir.

Geçmişte olup bitmiş eylemlerden bahsetmek için fiilin Past Tense hali kullanılır.

To be fiilinin Past Tense çekimi Irregular‘dır.

Olumlu

  • Was I a good boss?

Past Tense’i aşağıdaki durumlarda kullanırız:

  • Gerçekleşmiş yakın zamanlı olaylar ve eylemler;
  • Gerçekleşmiş uzun zamanlı durumlar;
  • Gerçekleşmiş tekrarlı olaylar ve olmayan alışkanlıklar;
  • Gerçekleşmiş geçmiş olaylar. Bu durumlarda kullandığımız zaman ifadelerinden bazıları şunlardır: Two weeks ago, last year, in 2010, yesterday, vb.

Past Tense formunu geçmişte yaşanan ve sonuçlanan olaylardan bahsederken kullanırız. To be, Past Tense’te Irregular(düzensiz) olur.

  • Olumlu: (I) was, (you) were, (he/she/it) was, (we/you/they) were;
  • Olumsuz (I) was not, (you) were not, (he/she/it) was not, (we/you/they) were not;
  • Soru: was (I…?), were (you…?), was (he/she/it…?), were (we/you/they…?).

Örnek:
Olumlu: “The sugar was enough for the cake.”
Olumsuz: The sugar wasn’t enough for the cake.”
Soru: “Was the sugar enough for the cake?
