Cardinal Numbers

Introduction

Cardinal Numbers are used to express the quantity of something.

Form

0-10

  • 0 – Zero
  • 1 – One
  • 2 – Two
  • 3 – Three
  • 4 – Four
  • 5 – Five
  • 6 – Six
  • 7 – Seven
  • 8 – Eight
  • 9 – Nine
  • 10 – Ten

Example

  • I have one cat.
  • The metro is leaving from line three.
  • We need five apples to make an apple pie.

Use

We use Cardinal Numbers when we talk about a general number of people, animals or things (to talk about how many of those things there are).
