Introduction
Sual etiketi [question tag], məlumatı yoxlamaq üçün istifadə olunan cümlənin sonunda verilən qısa bir sualdır, təsdiq istəmək üçün (inkar etiketi [negative tag]) və ya razılaşmaq üçün (müsbət etiketi [positive tag]) qoyulur.
Form
Sual etiketiləri [question tags] cümlənin eyni felindən əmələ gəlir (köməkçi fellər, olmaq feli və modal fellər).
Onların quruluşları bunlardır:
- Positive sentence + , + negative tag [auxiliary + not + subject]?
- Negative sentence + , + positive tag [auxiliary + subject]?
Example
Müsbət cümlə + inkar etiketi
- You called the ambulance, didn’t you?
- He is the prime minister, isn’t he?
- They can go to the town hall, can’t they?
İnkar cümlə + müsbət etiket
- You don’t like this political party, do you?
- He is not going to the army, is he?
- They couldn’t arrive yesterday, could they?
Use
Sual etiketlərini [question tags] yalnız cavabını bilmək istədiyimiz suallar kimi istifadə edirik və ya cavabını bildiyimiz halda razılıq istəmək üçün istifadə edirik.
- Positive sentences use negative tags when looking for confirmation;
- Negative sentences use positive tags when looking for agreement.
Summary
Question tags are short questions at the end of a sentence and we use them to check information, ask for confirmation (negative tag) or agreement (positive tag).
- Müsbət bir cümlə ilə başladığımızda, inkar etiketi istifadə edirik, köməkçi ilə qurulmuş, lakin mövzu əvəzliyi tərəfindən izlənmir.
- İnkar cümlə ilə başladığımızda, müsbət etiketi istifadə edirik, köməkçi ilə qurulmuş, hansıki mövzu əvəzliyi tərəfindən də izlənir.
Misal üçün:
— “You love me, don’t you?” = Danışan təsdiq [confirmation] tələb edir.
— “You don’t love me, do you?” = Danışan razılaşmağı [agreement] tələb edir.
