Introduction
I nomi [nouns] si riferiscono a persone, luoghi, cose, eventi materiali o qualità.
I nomi non numerabili sono nomi che non si possono contare numericamente e sono considerati come massa. {Vedi Nouns – Countable & Uncountable, A1 level}
Form
Uncountable Nouns si riferiscono a cose che consideriamo come massa e non come oggetti a sé. Ci sono tre tipi di uncountable nouns:
- Solo di forma singolare: advice, baggage, energy, hair, homework, information, money…
- Solo di forma plurale: clothes, groceries, news, regards, thanks…
- Uncountable quando si riferisce a una cosa generale e countable quando si riferisce ad una cosa specifica : a type of, a kind of…, materials and liquids: glass, paper, coffee, water…, or abstract nouns: life, time…

- Nomi uncountable solo al singolare
- My baggage is so heavy because of the camera in it!
- Her energy as a salsa dancer is incredible!
- Their money was not enough to buy the painting.
- Nomi uncountable solo al plurale
- Could you get the groceries?
- He told me some news about your journey.
- We send our thanks to the director.
- Usi sia come uncountable, sia come countable
- She has a lot of glass bowls. / Does she want a glass of coke?
- Can I borrow some coffee? / Shall I get a coffee (= a cup of coffee)?
- I need more time. / I miss the times of my internship ( = a specific period).

Gli Uncountable nouns si riferiscono a cose che identifichiamo come massa e non come oggetti separati. Ci sono tre tipi di uncountable nouns:
- Uncountable nouns solo singolari: advice, baggage, energy hair, homework, information, money…
- Ucountable noun solo plurali: clothes, groceries, news, regards, thanks…
- Usi sia uncountable sia countable: a type of…, a kind of…;coffee, glass, paper, water… (materials and liquids); life, time… (abstract nouns).
Per esempio:
— “I don´t have energy for another trip.” = Energy ha solo la forma uncountable singolare.
— “I will tell today´s news later.” = News ha solo la forma uncountable plurale.
— “Can I have some coffee?” / “Can I have a coffee?“= Coffee si riferisce alla polvere di caffè (uncountable singolare), e a coffee ha il significato implicito di una tazza di caffè (countable singolare).
