Introduction
There is/are jsou slovní spojení používaná ve větách, která potvrzují, popírají nebo ověřují, že něco existuje.
Form
There is/are umisťují podmět po slovese a obvykle se vyskytují ve třech tvarech:
Kladný tvar
Podstatná jména v jednotném čísle: There is + singular noun/uncountable noun + …
Podstatná jména v množném čísle: There are + plural noun + …
Záporný tvar
Podstatná jména v jednotném čísle: There is + not + singular noun/uncountable noun + …
Podstatná jména v množném čísle: There are + not + plural noun + …
Zkrácené tvary v záporném tvaru jsou: there isn’t/aren’t (stejné zkrácené tvary jako u to be).
Častějšími konstrukcemi v negativním tvaru jsou:
- there are no / there are not any;
- there aren’t / there aren’t any.
Tázací tvar

Use
Slovní spojení there is/are používáme, když potvrzujeme, popíráme nebo ověřujeme, že něco existuje.
