Main Religions
- The main religion of the United Kingdom is Christianity, in 2011 Census 59.5% of people defined it as their religion.
- It is followed by:
- Islam – 4.4%
- Islam is a monotheistic religion whose followers believe that Muhammad is a messenger of God.
- Hinduism – 1.3 %
- Hinduism is an Indian religion and way of life practised in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia.
- Sikhism – 0.7 %
- Sikhism is an Indian monotheistic religion that originated in Punjab.
- Judaism – 0.4 %
- Judaism is an ethnic religion comprising the collective religious, cultural and legal tradition and civilization of the Jewish people.
- Buddhism – 0.4 %
- Buddhism is a nontheistic philosophical and religious system which originated in northern India.
- Islam – 4.4%
- Around 25.7% of the population is atheist.
