Introduction
The simple sentence [oración simple] is a type of sentence with only a predicate made up of a verb and other words.
Simple sentences are divided according to the attitude of the speaker [actitud del hablante] and the nature of the predicate [naturaleza del predicado]
The copulative or attributive sentence [oración copulativa o atributiva] is a type of simple sentence depending on the nature of the predicate. It expresses the quality of the subject and is made up of a copulative verb and an attribute.
Form
The copulative sentence is a type of simple sentence that has a copulative verb and is created following this pattern:
(Subjet +) copulative verb + attribute [adjectival/adverbial/prepositional phrase] + …
The copulative verbs we use are ser and estar. The attribute can be an adjectival, adverbial or prepositional phrase.
Example
- La empresa es famosa en todo el mundo;
- El paro es muy alto;
- Las tiendas son de deportes;
- Las vacaciones están sobrevaloradas;
- Los ordenadores de la oficina están para el arrastre.
Use
Copulative sentences are used to indicate the quality or state of the subject.

For example:

— «Eso que dijo parece cierto.» = it has the copulative verb parecer.
