Introduction

The verb [verbo] is a kind of word with person, number, tense, mood, and aspect. It also indicates the action, movement, existence, condition, or state of the subject in the sentence.

Creer and pensar are verbs used to express an opinion.

Form

The verbs creer and pensar in an affirmative sentence are followed by que and a verb in the indicative according to the following structure:

(Subjet +) Verb creer/pensar + que + verb + …

The verbs creer and pensar in the present indicative are conjugated as follows:

Persona Creer Pensar
Yo creo pienso
crees piensas
Él/Ella/Usted cree piensa
Nosotros/-as creemos pensamos
Vosotros/-as creéis pensáis
Ellos/Ellas/Ustedes creen piensan

 

Example

  • Creo que deberías comer más pescado;
  • crees que te sentará mal el pan con gluten;
  • Él cree que el café solo es demasiado amargo;
  • Pensamos que deberías abandonar la academia después de cenar;
  • Pensáis que tendría que lavarme las manos más a menudo;
  • Ellos piensan que la comida estaba deliciosa.

Use

The verbs creer and pensar are used to express opinions, assessments, or information:

  • creer expresses an opinion based on the confidence and emotional side of the speaker;
  • pensar describes a logical statement about a specific idea.

— «A mí no me gusta esta canción». = Expresses opinion;
