Adverbs of time

Introduction
Adverbs [adverbios] modify a verb, adjective, or another adverb in a sentence.
Adverbs of time [adverbios de tiempo] give specific information about the moment and time when the actions occur.
Form
Adverbs of time can be placed before or after the verb, depending on what is emphasized. They have no fixed position in the sentence.
Some of the most important adverbs of time are: ahora, hoy, mañana…
NOTE: Adverbs do not vary in gender and number.
Example
- Ahora no están mis padres, pero igual vienen luego;
- Tengo un tatuaje nuevo, es lo que se lleva ahora;
- Mis nietos no han venido a verme hoy porque vinieron ayer;
- Hoy me siento más joven, podría escalar el Everest;
- Mañana iremos a cenar a casa de mi novia;
- No dejes para mañana lo que puedes hacer pasado mañana.
Use
Adverbs of time are used to:
- add information about when the action takes place;
- answer the questions: ¿Cuándo?, ¿Con qué frecuencia?, ¿Para cuándo?, ¿Desde cuándo? y ¿Hasta cuándo?
The main adverbs of time have the following uses:
- ahora: at this precise moment ;
- hoy: at the actual moment, in the present day;
- mañana: the following day after today.
Summary
Adverbs of time are used to give more specific information about when the action takes place. In Spanish, they do not have a fixed position in the sentence.
