Introduction

Gli avverbi [adverbs] sono parole che si comportano come dei modificatori di altri elementi della frase. Forniscono una vasta gamma di informazioni.

Quelli usati per fornire informazioni sul tempo in cui qualcosa è successo, si chiamano avverbi di tempo [adverbs of time].

Form

Gli avverbi di solito vanno posizionati dopo i verbi ausiliari (to be/to have) o prima di altri verbi.

Usiamo gli avverbi di tempo per descrivere il tempo di un evento o un’azione.

I più usati sono: now, yesterday, tonight, tomorrow, today, soon, already, later, all day, since

Example

  • I am reading now.
  • A famous singer died yesterday.
  • Are you throwing a party tonight?
  • Anna is getting married tomorrow.
  • I should do it today.
  • See you soon!
  • We have already divorced.
  • I think she will give you her e-mail address later.
  • We were at my dad’s house all day.
  • We have lived together since 1999.

Use

Gli avverbi di tempo si usano per indicare che è successo qualcosa o che qualcuno ha fatto qualcosa. Alcuni avverbi di tempo mostrano la durata e la frequenza (quanto spesso) di un’azione.
