Kita dapat menemukan struktur perbandingan setingkat (as…as clause) dalam tiga format.

Format afirmatif:

Subject + verb + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …

Format negatif:
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …

Format interogatif:
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …?
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …?

Kita menggunakan perbandingan setingkat (as…as clause) untuk:

  1. Membicarakan benda yang identik (format afirmatif);

  3. Menanyakan informasi tentang persamaan/perbedaan dari benda-benda tersebut (bentuk interogatif).

Perbandingan setingkat [comparative of equality] (atau as…as clause) digunakan untuk menerangkan persamaan atau perbedaan antara dua benda, orang atau aksi.
