Introduction
Comparațiile [Comparisons] cu adjectivele [adjectives] și adverbele [adverbs] se utilizează pentru a compara obiecte, oameni sau acțiuni, exprimând egalitățile sau inegalitățile dintre ele.
Comparația de egalitate [comparative of equality] (clauza as…as) se folosește pentru același scop.

Form
De obicei, găsim structura comparației de egalitate (clauza as…as) în cele trei forme.
Afirmativ:
Subject + verb + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …
Subject + verb + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …
Negativ:
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …
Subject + verb + not + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …
Interogativ:
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + as + object + …?
Verb + subject + as + adjective/adverb + noun + as + object + …?
Example
Când întrebăm despre egalitate/inegalitate
- Is this box of biscuits as big as mine?
- Do I have champagne as cold as yours?
Obiecte identice
- This box of biscuits is as big as mine.
- This restaurant makes food as good as my mum’s.
Obiecte diferite
- A kilo of potatoes is not as expensive as a kilo of steaks.
- Her mountain boots are not as cheap as his backpack.
Use
Folosim comparația de egalitate (clauza as…as) pentru a:
- vorbi despre obiecte identice (afirmativ);
- vorbi despre obiecte diferite (negativ);
- întreba despre egalitate/inegalitate sau obiecte distincte (interogativ).

De exemplu:
— Afirmative: „My doll is as lovely as yours.”
— Negativ: „My doll is not as lovely as yours.”
— Interogativ: „Is my doll as lovely as yours?”
