Introduction
Timpul present perfect [present perfect] se utilizează pentru a exprima acțiuni complete care s-au întâmplat în trecut, dar au legătură cu prezentul și încă are efecte asupra lui {vezi Present Perfect, Nivelul A2}.
Timpul past simple [past simple] se utilizează pentru a exprima situații care s-au întâmplat și s-au terminat în trecut {vezi Past Simple, Nivelul A1}.
Present perfect și Past simple (perfectul compus) sunt diferite ca formă și semnificație.
Form
Present perfect și Past simple au structuri diferite pentru trei forme.
Forma afirmativă [affirmative]:
- Present perfect: Subject + have/has + past participle + …
- Past simple: Subject + Verb (Past tense) + …
Forma negativă [negative]:
- Present perfect: Subject + have/has + not + past participle + …
- Past simple: Subject + did + not + verb + …
Forma interogativă [interrogative]:
- Present perfect: Have/Has + subject + past participle + …?
- Past simple: Did + subject + verb + …?
Example
Present perfect
- I have lived in Chicago for 10 years. I still live in Chicago.
- She hasn’t played the piano in 3 years (the last time was 3 years ago).
- Have they lived together for a year (they are still together)?
Past simple
- I lived in Chicago for 10 years, now I live in San Diego.
- She didn’t play the piano for 3 years, but she started playing again this week.
- Did they live together for a year (they are not together anymore)?
Use
Folosim Present Perfect pentru a exprima acțiuni sau evenimente scurte/lungi nefinalizate, situații din trecut cu rezultate în prezent, cu ajutorul expresiilor temporale nefinalizate [unfinished time expressions] (this month, today, this year, etc.).
Folosim Past Simple (perfectul compus) pentru a exprima acțiuni sau evenimente scurte/lungi finalizate, evenimente repetate și obiceiuri care au avut loc în trecut, cu ajutorul expresiilor temporale finalizate [finished time expressions] (two weeks ago, last year, in 2010, yesterday, etc.).
Summary
Timpurile Past Simple [past simple] și Present Perfect [Present perfect] diferă în sens și în felul în care sunt formate.
De exemplu:
— „I have been to the cinema four times this month.” = Folosim Present Perfect a verbului to be pentru a exprima ideea că acțiunea a început într-o perioadă de timp care încă nu s-a finalizat (luna curentă).
— „I went to the cinema four times last month.” = Folosim Past Simple a verbului to go pentru a exprima ideea că acțiunea a început și s-a terminat în trecut și nu mai are loc în prezent (luna trecută).
