Introduction
Putem folosi structura to-infinitive (a – infinitiv) pentru a exprima scopul cuiva (motivul sau obiectivul acțiunii).
Form
Structura lui to-infinitive (to work) este aproape aceeași ca cea a lui infinitivul zero (work).
Pentru a obține forma negativă, adăugăm not înaintea infinitivului (not to work).
Example
- I went outside to help my mom.
I went outise not to help my mom. (to do something else besides helping my mom) - He called me to invite us to the beach.
- We travelled to see our classmates.
- I went outside in order to help my mom.
I went outside in order not to help my mom. (avoiding to help my mom)
- I went outside in order to understand what my mom says.
- I went outside so as to help my mom.
Use
Folosim to-infinitive după câteva verbe pentru a exprima scopul, dar niciodată după verbele modale. Mai mult ca atât, nu se folosește (cu sau fără to-) după prepoziții.
Summary
Structura to-infinitive se utilizează pentru a exprima scopul cuiva. Pentru a obține forma negativă, adăugăm not înaintea lui to-infinitive.
De exemplu:
— „I have to find an excuse to go to the cinema with them.” = Subiectul exprimă obiectivul ei/lui pentru a merge la cinema.
— „I have to find an excuse not to go to the cinema with them.” = Subiectul exprimă Obiectivul ei/lui pentru a nu merge la cinema.
NOTĂ: Nu se folosește după verbele modale, și după prepoziții (cu sau fără to-).
