Introduction
Birinin amacından (bir eylemin amacı veya sebebi) bahsederken To + Infinitive kalıbını kullanabiliriz.
Form
Zero infinitive (work) yapısı Infinitive Hal (to work) ile aynıdır ve Infinitive yapısından sonra sadece “not” takısı ekleyerek Olumsuz yapabiliriz (not to work).
Example
- I went outside to help my mom, not to help you.
- He called me to invite us to the beach, not to invite us to the picnic.
- We travelled to see my classmates, not to get married.
Use
Summary
Birinin amacından bahsederken To + Infinitive kalıbını kullanabiliriz. Infinitive yapısından sonra sadece bir “not” takısı ekleyerek Olumsuz Hale [negative] geçebiliriz.
Örnek:
— “I have to find an excuse to go to the cinema with them” = Özne “to infinitive” yapısını kullanarak sinemaya gitmeyi amaçladığını ifade ediyor.
— “I have to find an excuse not to go to the cinema with them.” = Özne “to infinitive” yapısını kullanarak sinemaya gitmemeyi amaçladığını ifade ediyor.
Not: To + Infinitive kalıbı yardımcı fiillerden sonra ya da edatlardan sonra -to ile birlikte ya da tek başına kullanılmaz.
