Introduction
Zamirler [pronouns] isimlerin sürekli tekrarını önlemek için kullanılır.
İlgi Zamirleri [relative pronouns], ilgi cümleciklerini gösterirler. Ana cümlede verilen öznenin yerini alarak kullanımlarının tekrarını önlerler (Subject Pronouns, A1 Level konusuna bakınız).
Form
İlgi Zamirleri whom ve whose isimlerin ardından gelirler.
Example
Whom
- I called the salesman from whom I bought this watch.
- This is the woman to whom I wanted to speak.
- The people, for whom they were waiting, have arrived.
Whose
- Helen, whose father is a baker, lives in an industrial city.
- This is the painter whose statue is in the main square of the city.
- This is my cousin whose clothes shop has the most expensive clothes.
Use
Whom ve whose ilgi cümlecikleri için kullanılır. İnsanlara ve cansız varlıkları belirtmek ve ek bilgi vermek için kullanılır:
- Whom eylemin kime yapıldığını sorar;
- Whose bir şeyin kime kime ait olduğunu sorar.
Summary
İlgi Zamirleri [relative pronouns] whom ve whose ana cümlede verilen öznenin yerini alarak tekrarı önlerler. İki zamir de insanlar için kullanılır ve isimlerden sonra gelir.
Örnek:
— “I am dating the girl whom I met at the bar.” = Whom burada kızdan bahsetmek için kullanılmış.
— “The girl, whose brother owns this restaurant, is Italian.” = Whose burada kızdan bahsetmek için kullanılmış.
