Introduction
Expresia to be used to (a obișnui să/cu) este folosită pentru a exprima obiceiuri și tradiții care ne sunt familiare.
Când este exprimată în forma negativă [negative], verbul neagă că subiectul are anumite obiceiuri.
Form
To be used to, în forma negativă, are această structură:
Subject + to be + not + used to + [verb + ing]/pronoun/noun phrase + …
- Prescurtările formei negative sunt la fel ca cele ale lui to be: I’m not – you’re not/you aren’t – he’s not/he isn’t…

Example
- They‘re not used to working in a big, modern city.
- I have not had long hair since I was a child so I‘m not used to it now.
- He is not used to the noise of the shower.
Use
Structura to be used to neagă, în forma negativă, ceva sau anumite activități familiare cuiva.
Summary
Subject + to be + not + used to + [verb + ing]/pronoun/noun phrase + …
For example:
— “You are not used to having breakfast early in the morning.” = “Having breakfast in the morning” is not the habit of the subject.
NOTE: Don’t confuse it with to use to, that could appear only in sentences that are already in the past tense.
De exemplu:
— “You aren’t used to having breakfast early in the morning.” = Folosim to be used to pentru a exprima o acțiune care nu-i este familiară subiectului.
♦ “You didn’t use to have breakfast early in the morning.”= Folosim to use to pentru a exprima o acțiune care nu s-a întâmplat în trecut, dar se întâmplă acum.
