Form

Would es un verbo auxiliar modal y cuando se usa con like (would like) forma una solicitud o proposición de manera educada. En esta estructura la forma es siempre la misma, incluso para la tercera persona del singular.

Normalmente encontramos esta estructura en sus tres formas:

Su estructura, en la forma afirmativa, es:
Subject + would like + [to + verb]/noun + …

He would like to work /pizza
She would like to work /pizza

We would like to work /pizza
You would like to work /pizza
They would like to work /pizza

Negativo

Su estructura, en la forma negativa, es:
Subject + would + not + like + [to + verb]/noun + …

  • La forma abreviada de la forma negativa es wouldn’t.
SUBJECT WOUL + NOT LIKE TO + VERB/ NOUN
I would not like to work /pizza
You would not like to work /pizza
He would not like to work /pizza

Interrogativo

Su estructura, en la forma interrogativa, es:

WOULD SUBJECT LIKE TO + VERB/ NOUN QUESTION MARK
Would I like to work /pizza ?
Would you like to work /pizza ?

Use

Usamos would like para decir want en una manera más educada, especialmente cuando hacemos una proposición o una solicitud.

Summary

Usamos would like para expresar nuestras solicitudes o proposiciones de manera más educada, que no sea tan fuerte como want.

Usamos estructuras diferentes:

  • Afirmativo: empezamos con el sujeto seguido por would like y un verbo en infinitivo o un sustantivo.
  • Negativo: empezamos con el sujeto seguido por would not like y un verbo en infinitivo o un sustantivo.
  • Interrogativo: empezamos con would seguido por el sujeto, like y un verbo en infinitivo o un sustantivo ( la oraciñon termina con un signo de interrogación).

Por ejemplo:
— Afirmativo: «I would like a cup of tea
— Negativo: «I wouldn’t like a cup of tea
— Interrogativo: «Would you like a cup of tea?»

NOTA: Liketiene un significado diferente al de would like: like se usa para expresar la idea de disfrutar algo.

For example:
— “would like to do some sport.” = Usamos would like para expresar el deso del sujeto de hacer deporte.
♦ “like sport.” = Usamos like para expresar que al sujeto le gusta hacer deporte.

Vamos a revisar el contenido de la sección {Form}. Echa un vistazo a la sección {Example} que muestra su uso en el contexto de una oración.
