Be going to es una estructura que hace referencia al futuro.

Form

Affirmative

Su estructura, en la forma afirmativa, es:
Subject + to be + going to + verb + …

  • La forma abreviada del afirmativo es igual que la forma abreviada de to be: I’m – you’re – he’s…

Negative

Example

Afirmativo

  • am going to the shop this weekend.
  • When he grows up, he is going to be the boss.
  • We are going to visit your company today.

Negativo

  • am not going to the shop this weekend.
  • When he grows up, he is not going to be the boss.
  • We are not going to visit your company today.

Interrogativo

  • Am I going to the shop this weekend?
  • Is he going to be the boss when he grows up?
  • Are we going to visit your company today?

Use

Usamos be going to cuando queremos expresar intenciones y planes para el futuro.

NOTA: Podemos usar gonna en vez de going to en contextos informales.

Summary

Be going to hace referencia a intenciones fuertes y planes para el futuro.

Se puede usar en formas distintas:

  • Afirmativo: Empezamos con el sujeto seguido por to be seguido por going to y el verbo. Subject + to be + going to + verb + …
  • Negativo: Empezamos con el sujeto seguido por to be not seguido por going to y el verbo. Subject + to be + not + going to + verb + …
  • Interrogativo: Empezamos to be seguido por el sujeto seguido por going to y el verbo (la oración termina con un signo de interrogación). To be + subject + going to + verb + …?

Por ejemplo:
— Afirmativo: «I am going to go to work
— Negativo: «I am not going to go to work, I am going to the shop
— Interrogativo: «Are you going to work?»
