Introduction

Ein Question Tag ist eine kurze Frage am Ende eines Satzes, die verwendet wird, um Informationen zu überprüfen, um Bestätigung zu bitten (negatives Tag) oder Vereinbarung (positives Tag).

Form

Example

Positive sentence + negative tag

  • You called the ambulance, didn’t you?
  • He is the prime minister, isn’t he?
  • They can go to the town hall, can’t they?

Negative sentence + positive tag

  • You don’t like this political party, do you?
  • He is not going to the army, is he?
  • They couldn’t arrive yesterday, could they?

Use

Negative Tags werden mit positiven Sätzen bei der Suche nach Bestätigung verwendet.

Positive Tags werden mit negativen Sätzen bei der Suche nach Vereinbarung verwendet.
