Introduction

Īss vispārīgs jautājums [question tag] ir īss jautājums teikuma beigās, kuru izmanto, lai pārbaudītu informāciju, jautātu par apstiprinājumu (negatīvs īss jautājums) vai vienošanos (pozitīvs īss jautājums).

Form

Īsie vispārīgie jautājumi veidojas no teikuma darbības vārda (palīgdarbības vārda, darbības vārda to be un modālā darbības vārda).

Izmantojamās formulas:

  • Positive sentence + , + negative tag [auxiliary + not + subject]?
  • Negative sentence + , + positive tag [auxiliary + subject]?

Example

Pozitīvs teikums + negatīvs īss jautājums

  • You called the ambulance, didn’t you?
  • He is the prime minister, isn’t he?
  • They can go to the town hall, can’t they?

Negatīvs teikums + pozitīvs īss jautājums

  • You don’t like this political party, do you?
  • He is not going to the army, is he?
  • They couldn’t arrive yesterday, could they?

Use

Īsos vispārīgos jautājumus var izmantot kā jautājumus, ja vēlas vienkārši uzzināt atbildi vai jautāt par vienošanos, kad atbilde jau ir zināma.

Pozitīvos teikumos izmanto negatīvos īsos jautājumus, ja vēlas iegūt apstiprinājumu.
Negatīvos teikumos izmanto pozitīvos īsos jautājumus, ja vēlas sasniegt vienošanos.
