Introduction

Be going to es una estructura que se refiere al futuro {ver Be going to, Nivel A1}.

Example

Predicciones

  • The profit is low. We are going to go bankrupt.
  • The profit is high. We are not going to go bankrupt.
  • The profit is low. Are we going to go bankrupt?

Cosas que están a punto de ocurrir

  • Look at the sky. It is going to rain.
  • Look at the sky. It is not going to rain.
  • Look at the sky. Is it going to rain?

Órdenes

  • You are going to talk to the boss!
  • He is going to work as a babysitter.
  • They are not going to meet with the client.

Use

Usamos el futuro con la estructura be going to para hablar, negar o preguntar sobre:

  • Predicciones (basadas en indicios que vemos ahora);
  • Cosas que están a punto de ocurrir (sobre que estamos seguro);
  • Órdenes (formas afirmativas y negativas).

Summary

Podemos usar be going to para expresar predicciones, cosas que están a punto de ocurrir y órdenes.

Por ejemplo:
— «I am going to work on an important project next month.» =  be going to
♦ «I am working on an important project next month.» = present continuous
