Introduction

Adjective Adverb
fast fast
good well
hard hard
late late
straight straight

Example

Regular

  • He was very badly hurt in the accident.
  • She didn’t know exactly what happened.
  • She told them that she had a headache but they continued talking too loudly.
  • She combed her hair nicely.
  • She went to the Social Welfare and asked politely for help.

Irregular

  • He put orange juice in the fridge fast.
  • You said it well.
  • This job is so hard, I need a drink.
  • He answered my question late.
  • Hold the bottle straight.

Use

Usamos los adverbios de manera para expresar el cómo o la manera en que se hace u ocurre algo (badly, exactly, loudly, nicely, politely, fast, well, hard, late, straight…).

Se pueden usar con:

  • Very: para dar énfasis a los adjetivos y adverbios que pueden ser clasificados.
  • Too: para significar más que deseado, más que necesario o más que suficiente.

Summary

Los adverbios de manera [adverbs of manner] dan información sobre la manera en que se hace algo (cómo) y enfatizan la acción. Siempre van después de un verbo y a veces antes.

Se forman añadiendo -ly al adjetivo (badly, exactly, loudly, nicely, politely…).

Por ejemplo:
«Quick» ⇒ «He quickly kissed the girl on the cheek.» / «He very quickly kissed the girl on the cheek.» = Añadimos ly y very para dar más énfasis a la acción.

Algunos adverbios de manera son irregulares y tiene la misma forma que los adjetivos (fast, well, hard, late, straight…).

Por ejemplo:
«Straight» ⇒ «Walk straight, the Chinese restaurant is there.» = Straight permanece igual.

NOTA: Se pueden usar después de palabras como very o too.

Vamos a revisar este contenido dentro de la sección {Form}. Echa un vistazo a la sección {Example} que muestra su uso en contexto.
