Introduction
Les adverbes [adverbs] servent à modifier la phrase, la proposition ou plusieurs éléments de la proposition. Ils fournissent un large éventail d’informations.
Les adverbes de manière [adverbs of manner] indiquent la manière dont quelque chose est fait. Il répond à la question « comment ? ».
Form
Les adverbes de manière se placent généralement après un verbe (quelques fois avant) et peuvent être utilisés après des mots comme very ou too.
Les réguliers
Dans la majorité des cas, on forme un adverbe de manière en ajout -ly à un adjectif.

Les irréguliers
Il existe des irrégularités dans la formation des adverbes de manière. Certains ne suivent pas la règle générale ou ils gardent la même forme que leur adjectif.

Example
Les réguliers
- He was very badly hurt in the accident.
- She didn’t know exactly how to use this machine.
- She told them that she had a headache but they continued talking too loudly.
- She combed her hair nicely.
- She went to the Social Welfare and asked politely for help.
Les irréguliers
- He put orange juice in the fridge fast.
- You said it well.
- This job is so hard, I need a drink.
- He answered my question late.
- Hold the bottle straight.
Use
On utilise les adverbes de manière pour exprimer la manière dont se passe un événement (badly, exactly, loudly, nicely, politely, fast, well, hard, late, straight…).
On peut les utiliser avec :
- Very : Pour insister sur l’intensité des adverbes qui peuvent être évalués.
- Too : Il signifie plus que voulu, plus que nécessaire ou plus qu’assez.
Summary
Les adverbes de manière [adverbs of manner] donnent des informations sur la façon (comment) dont quelque chose est fait et mettent l’accent sur l’action. Ils se placent en général après le verbe mais sont quelques fois devant.
On les forme en ajoutant -ly à un adjectif (badly, exactly, loudly, nicely, politely…).
Par exemple :
— « Quick » ⇒ « He quickly kissed the girl on the cheek. » / « He very quickly kissed the girl on the cheek. » = On ajoute -ly et very pour insister sur l’action.
Certains adverbes de manière sont irréguliers et ont la même forme que leur adjectif (fast, well, hard, late, straight…).
Par exemple :
— « Straight » ⇒ « Walk straight, the Chinese restaurant is there. » = Straight ne change pas.
NOTE : Ils peuvent être utilisés après des mots comme very et too.
