Determinantes Cuantitativos

Introduction

Los determinantes [determiners] son modificadores de sustantivos. Pueden dar información sobre cuál (which) y cuántas (how much/many) personas, cosas, animales, lugares… hablamos.

Usamos los determinantes cuantitativos [quantitative determiners] o cuantificadores [quantifiers] para indicar la cantidad de algo {ver Determinantes Cuantitativos, Nivel A1}.

Form

Usamos los determinantes cuantitativos para describir la cantidad de algo.

Los cuantificadores más comunes son: all (of), a lot of (lots of), a number of, enough (of), most (of), none (of)…

Example

  1. All my friends like drawing.
    All of my friends like drawing.
  2. A lot can happen in a long trip.
    Lots of things can happen in a long trip.
  3. A number of pilots were waiting.
  4. There isn’t enough red wine for everyone.
    There are enough of us to get the group price.
  5. This plant has the most strawberries.
    Most of the students in our university are from France.
  6. I have three leather jackets, he has none.
    None of their children have dark skin.

Use

Usamos los determinantes cuantitativos para indicar la cantidad de algo:

  1. All (of) (todo el mundo o todo, el número o la cantidad entera de algo);
  2. A lot (of) (un número grande en cantidad, escala o grado);
  3. A number of (más de dos pero menos de muchos);
  4. Enough (of) (cantidad, calidad o ámbito que cumple los requisitos, demandas o expectativas);
  5. Most (of) (el más grande en cantidad, escala o grado, la mayoría);
  6. None (of) (ninguno o nadie).

Summary

Usamos los determinantes cuantitativos [quantitative determiners] para indicar la cantidad de algo.

Los cuantificadores [quantifiers] más comunes son: all (of), a lot of (lots of), a number of, enough (of), most (of), none (of)…

Por ejemplo:
— «None of my friends took the ship.» = None of indica que ninguno de mis amigos se llevó el barco.
— «A number of my friends booked the flight to Valencia.» = A number of indica que mas de dos per no demasiados amigos reservaron un vuelo.
