Introduction
Les comparatifs [comparative] sont utilisés pour comparer deux choses, personnes ou actions alors que les superlatifs [superlative] expriment la supériorité d’une chose, d’une personne ou d’une action.
Il existe quelques adjectifs et adverbes avec des formes comparatives et superlatives irrégulières.
Form
Les comparatifs et superlatifs irréguliers ne respectent pas les règles de formation standards, il faut les apprendre par cœur. Les adjectifs et adverbes avec un comparatif et un superlatif irréguliers les plus courants sont :

Example
Comparatif
- Susan is a better assistant than her sister.
- You have to go farther to get to the lawyer’s office.
- Peter is going to talk to him later about the house.
Superlatif
- John is the best assistant in the office.
- This is the furthest point I’ve ever reached in the agency!
- They come to the garage the latest.
Use
Les comparatifs et superlatifs irréguliers s’emploient de la même manière que les réguliers.
Summary
Pour les adjectifs/adverbes irréguliers, le comparatif et le superlatif ne peuvent pas être formés de la même manière que les autres et doivent être appris par cœur.
Les plus communs sont :
- Bad (adj.) – badly (adv.) ⇒ worse (comp.) – the worst (super.) ;
- Good (adj.) – well (adv.) ⇒ better (comp.) – the best (super.).
Par exemple :
— Comparatif : “You can write a good CV.” ⇒ “You can write a better CV.” / “You can write a gooder CV.“
— Superlatif : “You can write a good CV.” ⇒ “You can write the best CV.” / “You can write the goodest CV.“
