Introduction
So sánh hơn [Comparative] được sử dụng để so sánh hai thứ, con người hoặc hành động trong khi so sánh nhất [superlative] thể hiện sự vượt trội của một thứ, con người hoặc hành động.
Có một số tính từ và trạng từ có trường hợp ngoại lệ của so sánh hơn [irregular comparative] và so sánh nhất [superlative].
Form
Trường hợp ngoại lệ của so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất không theo quy tắc hình thành chung, chúng ta phải học chúng. Các tính từ và trạng từ so sánh bất thường được sử dụng phổ biến nhất là:

Example
So sánh hơn
- Susan is a better assistant than her sister.
- You have to go farther to get to the lawyer’s office.
- Peter is going to talk to him later about the house.
So sánh nhất
- John is the best assistant in the office.
- This is the furthest point I’ve ever reached in the agency!
- They come to the garage the latest.
Use
Chúng ta sử dụng trường hợp ngoại lệ của so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất theo cách tương tự như những trường hợp thường.
Summary
Với tính từ/ trạng từ ngoại lệ, các hình thức so sánh hơn và so sánh nhất không thể được tạo ra giống như các hình thức thông thường và chúng nên được học thuộc lòng.
Được sử dụng phổ biến nhất là:
- Bad (tính từ) – badly (trạng từ) ⇒ worse (so sánh hơn) – the worst (so sánh nhất);
- Good (tính từ) – well (trạng từ) ⇒ better (so sánh hơn) – the best (so sánh nhất).
Ví dụ:
— So sánh hơn: “You can write a good CV.” ⇒ “You can write a better CV.” / “You can write a gooder CV.“
— So sánh nhất: “You can write a good CV.” ⇒ “You can write the best CV.” / “You can write the goodest CV.“
