Introduction
Prezentul Continuu (sau progresiv) [present continuous or progressive] este un timp utilizat pentru a vorbi despre situații care au loc aproximativ în momentul vorbiri (înainte, în timpul și după momentul vorbirii).
Când este exprimat în forma sa negativă [negative], verbul neagă faptul că ceva se întâmplă acum.
Form
Timpul progresiv negativ format cu verbul to eat (a mânca) are următoarea structură:
Subject + to be + not + [verb + -ing] + …
Forma scurtă a formei negative este aceeași ca și forma scurtă a lui to be: I’m not – you’re not/you aren’t – he’s not/he isn’t…

Use
Folosim Prezentul Continuu ,în forma negativă, atunci când negăm despre:
- Acțiuni care se întâmplă în momentul vorbirii;
- Acțiuni temporare (care se vor termina în viitor);
- Acțiuni care sunt planificate pentru viitor;
- Schimbări și tendințe;
- Consecvența evenimentelor.

♦ „He doesn’t work on important projects.” = în acest caz folosim Prezentul simplu deoarece vorbim despre o acțiune care nu are loc în mod repetat sau întotdeauna în prezent.
