Introduction

Trajni sedanjik [present continuous] (ali progresivni [progressive]), je čas, ki ga uporabljamo za situacije, ki trenutno potekajo (pred, med ali po trenutku govora).

Ko je v nikalni obliki, glagol zanika, da se nekaj trenutno dogaja.

Form

Present continuous ima v nikalni obliki strukturo
Subject + to be + not + [verb + -ing] + …

  • Kratka oblika nikalne oblike je enaka kot kratka oblika to be: I’m not – you’re not/you aren’t – he’s not/he isn’t…
Subject To Be + not Verb + -ing
I am not working
You are not working
He is not working
She is not working
It is not working
We are not working
You are not working
They are not working

Example

  1. Trenutek govora
    • I‘m not eating an apple.
    • She isn’t watching TV at the moment.
    • We aren’t speaking.
  2. Začasne aktivnosti
    • I‘m not looking for a new shirt.
    • Paul isn’t working hard to buy new shoes.
    • We aren’t staying in this apartment for 3 weeks.
  3. Načrtovane aktivnosti
    • I‘m not leaving early tonight.
    • He isn’t going to the cinema on Friday evening.
    • We aren’t going on holiday at the end of this month.
  4. Spremembe in težnje
    • I‘m not getting happier and happier.
    • The world isn’t getting warmer.
    • We aren’t becoming better at volleyball.
  5. Doslednost dogodkov
    • I‘m not always watching the news.
    • He isn’t talking consistently.
    • They are not always having lunch at 14:00.

Use

Present continuousnikalni obliki uporabljamo za zanikanje:

  1. Aktivnosti, ki se dogajajo v trenutku govora;
  2. Začasnih aktivnosti (ki se bodo v prihodnosti zaključile);
  3. Aktivnosti, ki so načrtovane za prihodnost;
  4. Sprememb in teženj;
  5. Doslednosti dogodkov.

Struktura je:
Subject + to be + not + [verb + -ing] + …

Na primer:
— “He isn’t working on an important project today.” = Present continuous uporabljamo, ko govorimo o aktivnostih, ki potekajo v času govora (v tistem trenutku).
♦ “He doesn’t work on important projects.” = Present simple uporabljamo, ko govorimo o aktivnostih v sedanjosti, ki se ne ponavljajo ali vedno zgodijo.
