Introduction
În limba engleză folosim verbul to have pentru a forma expresii comune [expressions] în comunicarea informală.
Form
Have este utilizat ca cel mai important verb dintr-o propoziție, pe când, have got nu poate fi folosit atât de frecvent.
Expresiile comune, în forma afirmativă, au de obicei, această structură:
Subject + have/has + object + …
- Persoana a treia singular își schimbă forma din have în has.
Pentru a face verbul negativ trebuie să folosim:
Subject + do/does + not + have + object + …
- Persoana a a treia singular își schimbă forma din do în does.
- Nu se poate utiliza have not în expresiile comune.
Example
- I have a shower every morning.
I don’t have a shower every morning. - Have a good journey!
Don’t have a good journey! - We had* a fight.
We didn’t have* a fight. - She had a look at the book.
She didn’t have a look at the book.
Use
Utilizarea și semnificația verbului to have (a avea) depinde de substantivul care-l urmează.
Cele mai comune expresii comune folosind to have sunt:
- Have + breakfast, lunch, a meal, dinner, coffee, tea, a shower, a rest, a dream, a drink…;
- Have + a good day, a bad day, a good time, a bad time, a good journey, a nice day…;
- Have + a conversation, a talk, a fight…;
- Have + a look, a try…

Structura acestor expresii, în forma afirmativă, sunt, după cum urmează:
Subject + have/has + object + … (“has” pentru persoana a treia singular).
Structura, în forma negativă, este:
Subject + do/does + not + have + object + … (does not pentru persoana a treia singular)
De exemplu:
— Afirmativ: “Have a rest.” / “Have got a rest.” = Nu folosim have got în aceste expresii.
— Negativ: “Don’t have a rest now.” / “Have not a rest now.” = În forma negativă, nu putem folosi have not.
