Introduction
To be used to je struktura koja se koristi za izricanje navika i običaja koji su nam poznati.
Kada se koristi u potvrdnom obliku, glagol potvrđuje da subjekt ima neku naviku.
Form
To be used to, u potvrdnom obliku, ima ovu strukturu:
Subject + to be + used to + [verb + -ing]/pronoun/noun phrase + …
- Skraćeni potvrdni oblik jednak je skraćenom obliku glagola to be: I’m – you’re – he’s…

- They‘re used to working in a big, modern city.
- I have had long hair since I was a child so I‘m used to it now.

To be used to, u potvrdnom obliku, potvrđuje stvari ili aktivnosti s kojima je subjekt upoznat ili na koje je navikao.

Naprimjer:
— “You are used to having breakfast early in the morning.” = Doručak je navika subjekta.
NAPOMENA: Ne miješate s to use to strukturom, koja se može pojaviti samo u perfektu.
Naprimjer:
— “You are used to have breakfast early in the morning.” = Koristimo to be used to za izricanje radnje na koju je subjekt navikao.
♦ “You used to have breakfast early in the morning.“= Koristimo to use to za izricanje radnje koja se dogodila i završila u prošlosti.
