Introduction

Postoje glagoli nakon kojih dolazi gerundiv ili infinitiv.

Form

Glagoli nakon kojih dolazi gerundiv (glagol u funkciji imenice) ili infinitiv (to + osnovni oblik glagola) imaju ovu strukturu:

  • Najčešći verbs + gerund [verb + -ing] su: admit, avoid, celebrate, dislike, suggest, give up, miss, tolerate
  • Najčešći verbs + infinitiv [to + verb] su: agree, care, decide, hope, manage, pretend, seem, wait

Example

Glagoli + gerundiv

  • They admitted making a mistake.
  • He avoided paying taxes.
  • She celebrated passing her driving test.

Glagoli + infinitiv

  • We agreed to pay more for the house.
  • She just doesn’t care to come tonight.
  • I decided to travel for a year.

Use

Koristimo strukturu glagol + gerundiv/infinitiv kad nakon glagola dolazi druga radnja. Neki glagoli se koriste s gerundivom, a neki s infinitivom, ali ne postoji čvrsto pravilo kako ih razlikovati.

Summary

Određeni glagoli praćeni su gerundivom (glagoli u funkciji imenice) ili infinitivom (to + glagol). Ne postoji čvrsto pravilo kako ih razlikovati pa ih se treba naučiti napamet.

  • Najčešći glagoli s gerundivom su: admit, avoid, celebrate, dislike, suggest, give up, miss, tolerate
  • Najčešći glagoli s inifinitivnomagree, care, decide, hope, manage, pretend, seem, wait

Naprimjer:
— “admit loving you.” = Glagol priznati praćen je gerundivom.
— “decided to marry him.” = Glagol odlučiti praćen je infinitivom.
