Aditzak gerundio eta infinitiboekin

Introduction

Badaude aditz batzuk gerundio batekin edo infinitiboarekin joan behar direnak.

Form

Aditz batzuk gerundioekin doaz eta beste batzuk infinitiboarekin. Ez dago araurik hauek ezberdintzeko, beraz buruz ikasi behar dira.

Aditza gerundioarekin (substantibo moduan jokatzen duen aditza) edo infinitiboarekin (aditzaren oinarrizko forma gehi to) hurrengo egiturak dituzte:

  • Gehien erabiltzen diren aditzak + gerundioak [aditza + -ing] hurrengoak dira: admit, avoid, celebrate, dislike, give up, miss, suggest, tolerate…
  • Gehien erabiltzen diren aditzak+ infinitiboa [to + aditza] hurrengoak dira: agree, care, decide, hope, manage, pretend, seem, wait…

Example

Aditzak + gerundioak

  • They admitted having separated.
  • He avoided saying his nationality.
  • She celebrated passing her driving test.

Aditzak + infinitiboa

  • We agreed to pay for the end of the year party.
  • She just doesn’t care to be present at the birth.
  • I decided to travel for a year.

Use

Aditza + gerundioa/infinitiboa aditz bat beste ekintza batekin jarraitu nahi badugu.

OHARRA: Gerundioa edo infinitiboa erabiltzen dugu aditzaren ondoren, baina esanahia ez da beti berdina izango.

Adibidez:
— “I admit loving you.” = admit aditza gerundio batekin doa.
— “I decided to marry him.” = decide aditza infinitino batekin doa.

OHARRA: Egoera batzutan esanahia ezberdina da.
