Introduction
Prilozi [adverbs] su riječi koje funkcioniraju kao modifikatori rečenica i rečeničnih dijelova. Pružaju širok spektar informacija.
Prilozi stupnja [adverbs of degree] osiguravaju informaciju o intenzitetu radnje ili pridjeva {vidi Adverbs of Degree, A1 Level}.
Pojačivaći [intensifiers] i ublaživaći [mitigators] se koriste s prilozima stupnja.
Form
Pojačivaći su: highly, absolutely, so, utterly, incredibly, particularly…
Ubalživaći su: fairly, pretty (neformalno), rather, slightly…

Example
Intensifiers
- The climate was highly dry.
- It is absolutely impossible to win at most carnival games.
- He was so helpful.
- The view is utterly beautiful.
- We came incredibly close to falling off the stairs.
- These drawings are particularly good.
Mitigators
- These crystals are fairly bright.
- The view was pretty good, but not breathtaking.
- I’m rather bored.
- It is slightly expensive, but I’m still going to buy it.

Pojačivaći se koriste kad želimo naglasiti značenje neke riječi.
Ublaživaći se koriste kad želimo ublažiti značenje neke riječi.
Summary
Pojačivaći [intensifiers] i ublaživaći [mitigators] su dva oblika priloga stupnja. Pojačivaći se koriste za naglašavanje riječi ili radnje, a ublaživaći za ublažavanje.
Najčešći pojačivaći: highly, absolutely, so, incredibly, utterly, particularly…
Najčešći ublaživaći: fairly, pretty, rather, slightly…
Naprimjer:
— “I am absolutely sure he is lying.” = Postoji visoka šansa da laže pa koristimo pojačivaće.
— “I am fairly sure that he is lying.” = Mala je vjerojatnost da laže pa koristimo ublaživaće.
