Introduction

Aditz modal bat aditz laguntzaile mota bat da (laguntza), bakarrik zentzurik ez duena baina aditz nagusia aldatzen duena, esanahia aldatzen duena eta ekintzari buruzko xehetasun gehiego ematen dituena.

Would hitza aditz modala da iraganean gogoa, eskaera formalak, lehentasunak/desioak, eskaintzak eta gonbidapenak adierazteko.

Form

Would aditz modala aditz laguntzaile moduan hiru formetan erabili daiteke:

Affirmative

Baiezko forman, hurrengo egitura dauka:
Subject + would + verb + …

  • Would baiezkoaren forma laburtua  ‘d da.

    • She would stay with her Grandma during the summer.

Use

Would erabiltzen dugu hurrengoa adierazteko:

  1. Eskaintzak eta gonbidapenak: eskaintza bat egiteko edo norbait gonbidatzeko;
  2. Eskaera formala: eskaera formalak egiteko;
  3. Lehentasunak/desioak: lehentasun edo desioei buruz hitz egiteko;
  4. Iraganean gogoa: iraganean zerbait egin ahal izana adierazteko.

Summary

Would hitza aditz modala da iraganean gogoa, eskaera formalak, lehentasunak/desioak, eskaintzak eta gonbidapenak adierazteko.

Forma ezberdinetan erabili daiteke:

  • Baiezko: Subjektuarekin hasten gara eta woul eta aditza ondoren.
  • Ezezko: Subjektuarekin hasten gara eta would not eta aditza ondoren.
  • Galdera: Would-ekin hastan gara eta subjektua eta aditza ondoren (esaldia galdera marka batekin amaitzen da).

Adibidez:
— Affirmative: “She would play the piano.”
— Negative: “She wouldn’t play the piano.”
— Interrogative: “Would she play the piano?”

OHARRA: Forma berdina dauka beti hirugarren pertsona singularrerako eta guzti.

  • Ought to: not be as strong as must.
