Introduction
Superlativ pridjeva/priloga [superlative adjectives/adverbs] koristi se za usporedbu stvari, ljudi ili događaja te za izricanje superiornosti neke stvari, osobe ili događaja koja ima višu razinu određene kvalitete.
Form
Superlativ se tvori pomoću pridjeva ili priloga. Determinator the dolazi ispred pridjeva/priloga kako bi se istaknulo da je nešto superiornije nad nečim.
Struktura rečenice:
Subject + verb + the + superlative adjective/adverb + object + …
Superlativ pridjeva/priloga tvori se različito ovisno sufiksu i o broju slogova.
Jedan slog:
- Pridjev/prilog: dodajemo –est (clean ⇒ cleanest);
- Pridjev/prilog sa sufiksom –e: dodajemo -st (simple ⇒ simplest);
- Pridjevi koji završavaju na samoglasnik i suglasnik: udvostručujemo suglasnik i dodajemo -est (big ⇒ biggest).
Dva sloga:
- Pridjev/prilog sa sufiksom -y: mijenjamo -y u –i dodajemo –est (friendly ⇒ the friendliest).
Dva sloga ili više:
- Pridjev/prilog bez sufiksa -y: dodajemo the most ispred pridjeva/priloga: the most + pridjev/prilog (bez promjena) (beautiful ⇒ the most beautiful).
Kad koristimo the most oblik pridjeva/priloga ostaje nepromijenjen.
Example
Jedan slog
- I have the cleanest desk in the office.
- She has the oldest shop in the street.
- They tried their hardest to buy an apartment.
Dva sloga sa sufiksom -y
- You are the funniest woman alive.
- She is the friendliest girl I’ve ever met.
- We wake up the earliest to take shower.
Dva ili više sloga bez sufiksa -y
- I think that tennis is the most boring sport.
- ‘War and Peace’ is the most difficult Russian book to read.
- Far east countries’ languages are the most popular to learn.
Use
Superlativ pridjeva/priloga koristimo kad želimo izraziti da je neka stvar, osoba ili radnja superiornija drugoj.

Superlativ pridjeva/priloga [superlative adjectives/adverbs] koristimo kad uspoređujemo stvari, ljude ili događaje te izričemo superiornost jedne stvari, koja ima višu razinu određene kvalitete, nad drugom.
Struktura:

Tvore se različito ovisno o broju slogova i sufiksima.
Naprimjer:
Jedan slog:
— Uobičajena tvorba: “Tall” ⇒ “Claire is the tallest girl in the class.” = Dodajemo -est;
— Sufiks -e: “Nice” ⇒ “Anne is the nicest him.” = Dodajemo -st;
— Samoglasnik + suglasnik: “Thin” ⇒ “Karl is the thinnest.” = Udvostručujemo suglasnik i dodajemo -est.
Dva sloga
— Sa sufiksom -y: “Hungry“ ⇒ “Claire is the hungriest girl in the class.” = -y mijenjamo u -i i dodajemo -est.
Dva ili više sloga
— (Bez sufiksa -y): “Tired” ⇒ “Claire is the most tired girl in the class.” = Dodajemo most prije pridjeva/priloga.
