Introduction

Adverbs jsou výrazy, které modifikují ostatní slovní druhy. Poskytují nám větší škálu informací.

Ta, která dodávají informaci ohledně místa, kde se nějaká událost odehrává, se nazývají Adverbs of Place.

EXTRA: Adverbs = Příslovce; Adverbs of Place = Příslovce Místa.

Form

Below the main Adverbs of Place: here, there, downstairs, upstairs, inside, outside, indoors, outdoors, anywhere, abroad…

Example

  • A packet of flour was here yesterday.
  • He was there at the bar 2 minutes before.
  • The non alcoholic drinks are downstairs.
  • They are sitting upstairs.
  • I stay inside and have a warm meal when the weather is bad.
  • Everybody is outside.
  • Stay indoors and don’t ask questions.

Use

Adverbs of Place obvykle popisují místo či lokalitu. Obvykle je stavíme po hlavním slovese či za předmět. Adverbs of Place nemodifikují přídavná jména či další příslovce.

  1. Downstairs (situated on a lower floor);
  2. Outside (the outer side of something);
  3. Here (at this point);
  4. Indoors (in buildings);
  5. Abroad (in foreign countries);
  6. Upstairs (up the stairs, on an upper floor);
  7. Inside (the inner side of something);
  8. There (at that place);
  9. Outdoors (into the open air);
  10. Anywhere (at any place).
