Introduction

Prepositions jsou krátká slova, která se vždy vztahují k jinému členu ve větě. Jsou nezbytné, jelikož nám poskytují dodatečné informace o větě.

Prepositions of Movement umisťují události, osoby a předměty v prostoru.

EXTRA: Prepositions = Předložky; Prepositions of Movement = Pohybové Předložky.

Form

Prepositions of Movement používáme pro vyjádření pohybu a změny polohy. Jejichž užití závisí na:

  • Pohyb někam, či odněkud: to, from, down, up, away from…
  • Pohyb z jedné strany na druhou: across, along…
  • Změna pozice: in/into, on/onto, out of, off, over, under…

Example

  1. Pohyb někam, či odněkud
    • Northern wind goes to Turkey every winter.
    • My mother came from the garden.
    • The baby pig fell down the stairs.
    • I’m going up to the second floor to see the sky.
    • Get away from the olive trees!
  2. Pohyb z jedné strany na druhou
    • Be careful when you go across the streets. It is snowing.
    • Every Sunday we go for a walk along the coast.
  3. Změna pozice
    • My grandfather is coming into the garden.
    • My sister’s cat always jumps on/onto the table.
    • Your dog is out of your apartment right now.
    • Can you get off the bed and go to the supermarket, please?
    • The plane flies over the hill.
    • The subway runs under the street level.

Use

Užití Prepositions of Movement se liší.

  1. Pohyb někam, či odněkud
    • To (do);
    • From (z/od);
    • Down (dolů);
    • Up (nahoru);
    • Away from (pryč).
  2. Pohyb z jedné strany na druhou
    • Across (přes);
    • Along (podél).
  3. Změna pozice
    • In/Into (do/dovnitř);
    • On/Onto (na/navrch);
    • Out of (z/ven z);
    • Off (pryč);
    • Over (přes/nad);
    • Under (pod).

— „My grandfather walks in/into the living room.“ = Použili jsme in/into, jelikož odkazujeme na změnu pozice za účelem vstupu do trojrozměrného prostoru.
— „Get your feet off the table! “ = Použili jsme off, jelikož odkazujeme na povrch stolu.
— „Be careful when you go across the streets.“ = Použili jsme across, jelikož odkazujeme na změnu pozice z jedné strany na druhou.
