Introduction
To be used to ir izteiciens, kuru izmanto, lai runātu par pazīstamiem paradumiem un pazīstamām paražām.
Kad izteikts nolieguma [negative] formā, darbības vārds noliedz to, ka teikuma priekšmetam ir kāds paradums.
Form
To be used to nolieguma formā ir sekojoša formula:
Subject + to be + not + used to + [verb + ing]/pronoun/noun phrase + …
- Nolieguma formas saīsinātās formas ir tādas pašas kā to be saīsinātās formas: I’m not – you’re not/you aren’t – he’s not/he isn’t…

Example
- They‘re not used to working in a big, modern city.
- I have not had long hair since I was a child so I‘m not used to it now.
- He is not used the noise of the washing machine.
Use
To be used to formula nolieguma formā noliedz kaut ko vai kādu darbību, kas kādam ir pazīstama vai tiek dēvēta par paradumu.
Summary
To be used to nolieguma [negative] formā noliedz paradumus un paražas, kas ir pazīstami/pazīstamas.
Izmantojamā formula:
Subject + to be + not + used to + [verb + ing]/pronoun/noun phrase + …
Piemēram:
— “You are not used to having breakfast early in the morning.” = “Having breakfast in the morning” nav teikuma priekšmeta paradums.
PIEZĪME: Nesajauc to ar to use to, kas var parādīties tikai teikumos ar pagātnes laiku.
Piemēram:
— “You aren’t used to having breakfast early in the morning.” = Izmantojam to be used to, lai izrādītu darbību, kas ir teikuma priekšmeta paradums dotajā brīdī.
♦ “You didn’t use to have breakfast early in the morning.”= Izmantojam to use to, lai izrādītu darbību, kas nenotika pagātne, bet notiek tagad.
