Introduction
A few/a little oraz few/little są kwantyfikatorami które znaczą not enough or some/enough.
Form
Użycie tych określników zależy od rzeczownika:

Example
- We have a few beautiful beaches for swimming.
Few beaches are suitable for swimming. - We can bake a cake! We have a little flour.
We can’t bake a cake! We have (very) little flour.
Use
A few oraz a little znaczą some, enough. Pokazują, że czegoś jest więcej niż oczekiwano lub, że coś zostało.
Few oraz little znaczą not enough, less lub fewer niż oczekiwano. Pokazują, że jest czegoś mało lub że czegoś brakuje.
Summary
A few/few oraz a little/little wszystkie oznaczają some.
- Rzeczowniki policzalne w liczbie mnogiej: a few (pozytywny) oraz few (negatywny).
- Rzeczowniki niepoliczalne w liczbie pojedynczej: a little (pozytywny) and little(negatywny).
Na przykład:
— “I have a few pencils in my bag, I do not need to buy new ones.” / “I have few pencils in my bag, I have to buy new ones.”
— “There is a little milk in the fridge, we can make a cake.” / “There is little milk in the fridge, we need to go to the supermarket.”
Gdy rzeczownik jest poprzedzony przedimkiem a, znaczenie jest pozytywne oraz sugeruje że trochę czegoś zostało; bez przedimka, znaczenie jest takie, że czegoś jest mało.
