Introduction

Przyimki są małymi słowami, które łączą elementy w zdaniu. Są kluczowe, ponieważ dostarczają dodatkowych szczegółów o zdaniu.

Używamy prepositions of time by umieścić wydarzenie w ramie czasowej {zobacz Często używane przyimki czasu i miejsca, Poziom A1}.

Form

Przyimki czasu nie występują samodzielnie ale z innymi elementami w zdaniu by stworzyć, coś co nazywamy wyrażeniami przyimkowymi: atonin oraz by.

Example

At

  • Everyday at 7.00 clock I can see the stars.
  • He is going to the forest at Easter.
  • At weekends we take the dogs for a walk.

On

  • On Sundays, I usually relax with my friends by going to the coast.
  • She was born on the 1st of September in 1997.
  • The island sank on Sunday morning.

In

  • I always travel to famous forests in Finland in November.
  • In autumn it always rains.
  • In the evening the horses started to run.

By

  • Please, send me those tickets by Monday.
  • She has to finish her world map by next week.
  • Is Maria still in the garden? Yes, she will be back by evening.

Use

Prepositions of Time umożliwiają umieszczenie wydarzenia w czasie:

At

  • Momenty i godziny (the moment, sunrise, noon, night, midnight, hours);
  • święta (Christmas*, Easter, etc.);
  • Weekend*.

On

  • Dni tygodnia (monday, saturday, wednesday etc.);
  • Daty;
  • Określona pora dnia (e.g. „on sunday morning”).

In

  • Miesiące, lata, wieki;
  • Pory roku;
  • The morning, the afternoon, the evening.

*W amerykańskim angielskim często spotykamy on zamiast at.

Summary

Przyimki czasu są używane by umieścić wydarzenie w czasie oraz kontekście.

Główne przyimki czasu to:

  • At: dla konkretnych momentów, specjalne okresy wakacyjne oraz weekendy.
  • On: dni tygodnia, daty oraz konkretne części dnia.
  • In: miesiące, lata, pory roku, wieki, poranek, popołudnie i wieczór.
  • By: ograniczone w czasie działania, projekty z terminem i czasem powrotu.

Na przykład:
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house at Christmas.”
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house on 25th of December.”
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house in December.”
— “I will return from my grandparent´s house by December.

UWAGA: W amerykańskim angielskim występują Christmas oraz weekend z on oraz at.
