Introduction
Prielinksniai [prepositions] yra trumpi žodžiai, jungiantys kalbos dalis sakinyje. Jie yra neišvengiami sakinyje ir suteikia mums papildomos informacijos.
Naudojame laiko prielinksnius [prepositions of time] norėdami nustatyti tam tikrų įvykių laiką.

Form
Laiko prielinksniai (at, on, in ir by) nenaudojami atskirai, todėl visuomet sakinyje eina su kitomis kalbos dalimis ir taip sukuria prielinksnines frazes.

- Everyday at 7.00 clock I can see the stars.
- He is going to the forest at Easter.
- At weekends we take the dogs for a walk.
On
- On Sundays, I usually relax with my friends by going to the coast.
- She was born on the 1st of September in 1997.
- The island sank on Sunday morning.
In
- I always travel to famous forests in Finland in November.
- In autumn it always rains.
- In the evening the horses started to run.
By
- Please, send me those tickets by Monday.
- She has to finish her world map by next week.
- Is Maria still in the garden? Yes, she will be back by evening.
Use
Naudojame laiko prielinksnius norėdami nustatyti tam tikrų įvykių laiką.
At
- Tikslus laikas (the moment, sunrise, noon, night, midnight, hours);
- Šventės (Christmas*, Easter…);
- Su žodžiu weekend* (savaitgalis).
On
- Savaitės dienos (Monday, Saturday, Wednesday…);
- Datos;
- Konkretus dienos periodas (on Sunday morning).
In
- Mėnesiai, metai, amžiai/šimtmečiai;
- Metų laikai;
- Su žodžiais: the morning (rytas), the afternoon (popietė), the evening (vakaras).
By
- Ribotos trukmės veiksmai;
- Projektai, turintys tikslų atlikimo terminą;
- Sugrįžimo laikas.
*Amerikiečių anglų kalboje galime sutikti prielinksnį on vietoje at.
Summary
Naudojame laiko prielinksnius [prepositions of time] nustatyti įvykio vietą konkrečiame momente ar periode.
Pagrindiniai laiko prielinksniai yra šie: at, on, in ir by.
Pavyzdžiui:
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house at Christmas.” = Naudojame at, kadangi kalbame apie šventę.
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house on 25th of December.” = Naudojame on, kadangi kalbame apie datą.
— “I will go to my grandparents’ house in December.” = Naudojame in, kadangi kalbame apie mėnesį.
— “I will return from my grandparents’ house by December.” = Naudojame by, kadangi kalbame apie sugrįžimo laiką.
