Introduction
Keçmiş davamedici [past continuous] (or progressive – və ya mütərəqqi) keçmişdə baş verən və müəyyən bir müddət ərzində hər an davam edən vəziyyətləri ifadə etmək üçün istifadə olunan zamandır.
İnkar [negative] formada ifadə edildikdə, fel keçmiş bir müddətdə bir şeyin baş verdiyini inkar edir.
Form
Keçmiş davamedici [past continuous], təsdiqləyici [affirmative] formasında bu quruluşa malikdir:
Subject + was/were + not + [verb + -ing] + …
- Was/were: to be – felinin keçmiş zaman formasıdır.

İnkar [negative] halının qısa forması, to be- halının keçmiş zamandakı [past simple] qısa forması kimidir: I wasn’t – you weren’t – he wasn’t…
Example
Daha uzun arxa fon əməliyyatı daha qısa müddətlə kəsildi
- I wasn’t running in the park when you sent me that message.
- She wasn’t practising sport when I called her.
- They weren’t watching TV when she got back from work.
Keçmişdə dəqiq bir zamanda meydana gələn hadisə
- I wasn’t running in the park at 9 o’clock.
- She wasn’t practising sport when I called her at 11:45.
- They weren’t watching TV when she returned from work at 7 o’ clock.
Bir müddət fasiləsiz fəaliyyət davam edir
- I wasn’t running.
- He wasn’t crossing the road.
- We weren’t watching TV during our break.

- I wasn’t working in the bakery last summer.
- She wasn’t practising sport every day last year.

- I wasn’t running while she was walking.
- She wasn’t practising sport while her mother was cooking.
- We weren’t talking while the kids were watching TV.
Keçmişdə baş verən hərəkətlərin ardıcıllığı
- I went to the park, the kids weren’t playing on the grass, their parents weren’t sitting on the fence and teenagers weren’t running.
- She went home and her mother wasn’t working on the laptop, her father wasn’t watching tv and her sister wasn’t studying.
- We went to the doctor today and while we were waiting at the doctor the other patients weren’t reading magazines, weren’t talking on the phone and the secretary wasn’t typing anything on the computer.
Təkrarlanan və ya bezdirici bir hərəkət (həmişə ilə)
- I wasn’t going to class late.
- She wasn’t doing sport everyday for years to become a good athlete.
- They weren’t watching TV on high volume late at night.
Use
Biz keçmiş davamedici [past continuous] zamandan, onun inkar [negative] formasından inkar etmək üçün istifadə edirik:
- Daha uzun bir fon əməliyyatı gözlənilməz daha qısa bir əməliyyatla kəsildi (daha uzun bir hadisə artıq davam edərkən birdən bir şey olur);
- Keçmişdə dəqiq bir zamanda baş verən bir hadisə (tarix, saatı ifadə etmək və ya keçmiş bir zamanda baş verən bir hadisə haqqında konkret vaxt məlumatı vermək);
- Bir müddətdir davam edən fasiləsiz bir hərəkət (uzun müddət ərzində keçmişdə davam edən hadisə);
- Keçmişdəki müddətin uzunluğu (uzun müddət ərzində keçmişdə davam edən hadisə);
- Keçmiş eyni vaxtda hərəkətlər (eyni vaxtda iki hadisə baş verdi);
- Keçmişdə baş verən hərəkətlərin ardıcıllığı (ümumiyyətlə fərqli hadisələrin eyni vaxtda baş verdiyi bir vəziyyəti təsvir etmək üçün istifadə olunur);
- Təkrarlanan və ya bezdirici bir hərəkət (təkrarlanan bir hadisənin ideyasını təklif edən həmişə və ya oxşar ifadələrlə).
Summary
Biz keçmiş davamedici [past continuous], onun inkar [negative] formasından keçmişdə baş verən və müəyyən bir müddət ərzində hər an davam edən vəziyyətləri inkar etmək üçün istifadə edirik.
Keçmiş davamedicinin inkar formasından istifadə etdikdə, mövzuya was not və ya were not ilə başlayırıq və felin sonuna -ing artırırıq.
Misal üçün:
— “I was not playing football when the phone rang.” = Biz keçmiş dəvamedicini [past continuous] başqası baş verdiyində baş verməyən bir hərəkəti ifadə etmək üçün istifadə edirik.
♦ “I did not play football.” = Biz keçmiş sadəni [past simple] keçmişdə olmayan bir hərəkətin fikrini ifadə etmək üçün istifadə edirik.
