Introduction

How many (koliko) uporabljamo, ko sprašujemo po količini, torej številu, števnega samostalnika.

How much (koliko) uporabljamo, ko sprašujemo po količini neštevnega samostalnika.

Form

Ko vprašamo how many? vedno uporabimo množino samostalnika, o katerem sprašujemo.
How many + countable noun + …?

Ko vprašamo how much? vedno uporabimo ednino samostalnika, o katerem sprašujemo.
How much + uncountable noun + …?

Example

How many?

  • How many apples do you have?
  • How many brothers does she have?
  • How many cars are there?

How much?

  • How much water do you want?
  • How much money do I need for the holidays?
  • How much time will it take?

Use

How many? uporabljamo za števne samostalnike, da bi izvedeli količino ali število nekega objekta/ov.

How much? uporabljamo za neštevne samostalnike, da bi izvedeli mero nekega objekta.

Summary

How many…? uporabljamo s števnimi samostalniki, tako v ednini kot v množini, da bi izvedeli količino ali število objekta/ov. Struktura je:
How many + countable noun + …?

How much? uporabljamo z neštevnimi samostalniki, le v ednini, da bi izvedeli mero nekega objekta. Struktura je:
How much + uncountable noun + …?

Na primer:
— How many…?: “How many cars can you see?” = how many…? uporabimo, ker je samostalnik car števni.
— How much…?: “How much time do you need to park the car?” = how much…? uporabimo, ker je samostalnik time neštevni.

NOTE: Ko vprašamo how many? vedno uporabimo množino samostalnika, o katerem sprašujemo. How much? uporabimo, ko sprašujemo po ceni.
